Letter to Congressman
Dear Michael C. Burgess,
I ask for you to take into consideration the harm of a bipartisanship that our government preserves. It has taken a toll on our nation as it has divided us throughout the past years. It has come to the point where people judge each other based on their beliefs. Some people will not talk to each other for months because they don't agree with each others' political beliefs. In some scenarios families are being torn apart due to their separation in political parties. There are news stations which support a certain party and bash on the other one. What has this country come to? What happened to being one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all? We are clearly missing out on the indivisible part because we have parted. What is going to happen in the future when the flame continues to spark and the crack becomes even larger? Will we go back to having a South and a North? Will we have another civil war that will only be ten times worse than the first one? We need to fix this situation because it is getting out of hand and it starts with you sir. We need to become united by setting our differences and beliefs apart and by setting a median. A median where we will be able to fix our problems through means that every citizen of the United States of America will agree too. Where we go back to our roots and set a code of morals that are necessary to succeed as a country. Lastly, I challenge you to take a step forward and reunite our nation. It has to start somewhere and I believe Texas is the right place to start due to our strong Republican roots and one of the most conservative states. My classmates and I are willing to support you and do anything that can help you fix our problem. Best of luck to you Mr. Burgess and thank you for listening to my opinions.
Sincerely, Esteban Ortega
